Barzo and Sandra Nankoma present “Langi”, a refreshing combination of Funk, Soul and Electronic grooves. The EP’s eponymous track, which translates to “Colors” in Luganda, speaks about seeing someone’s true colors and moving past a relationship. The second song, “Okukkiriza”, is a soulful mixture of funk and electronic sounds influenced by the exploration of synthesizers and drum machines in the eighties, focusing on staying positive amidst uncertainty and the importance of hope and perseverance. “Ssemusajja” combines nostalgic pop synths with a soulful vocal performance, inspired by a traditional folk rhyme from Uganda that relates to today’s struggles and delivers the message that not everything that shines is gold. The EP concludes with “Omukwano, a unique blending of funk, soul and electronic sounds celebrating love and appreciation of the present moment.

Barzo is a Costa Rican DJ and producer with a career spanning over a decade of releases and live performances, who has demonstrated great skill for mixing different musical styles with ease and flow. Barzo has produced official remixes for Janelle Monáe, Erykah Badu, Boy George, A-Trak & Dillon Francis, among many others. Barzo has performed in over 20 countries throughout America, Europe & Asia, sharing the stage with artists such as Justin Bieber, J Balvin, Juanes, Calvin Harris, Tiesto, Diplo, Skrillex and more.

Sandra Nankoma is an award-winning Ugandan artist and activist aiming to transform and educate about colourism, the stigma surrounding dark-skinned complexion. Her musical journey is majorly influenced by traditional soul rhythms, storytelling and alternative jazz ballads from the African continent with a distinctive identity that breaks traditional African sound stereotypes. Sandra has performed on stage with Oumou Sangare, Aṣa, Sauti Sol, Akua Naru, amongst many others.
